The mackeral were here in numbers Sunday. Had to wait 90minutes because sheriff cars blocked both pier entrances (Skyway race, why block the piers?). Lots of (huge) greenbacks on top early. They dropped out of sight about 11am. Macks were hitting anything dropped in at first. Became more picky after awhile. Caught plenty with white bucktails. Chrome Gotcha worked well as did Clark spoons. Shrimp on a hook caught a few. Even saw tourists with rental rods pulling up large mackeral 20-21". I jigged up some large greenbacks and put one out to pick a fight with a shark or something. The rod bent and I was sure the tug tug tug was a shark. Surprise! it was a fat mackeral, the days big fish for me at 22". We left at 2:30 and saw macks coming over the rail as we drove off. Beautiful day for fishing!
