I hit the SSP at 6:30am stayed at the end of the pier until 11am only caught 3 Mack and 1 sheep. They showed up short after sunrise, flipper and her young sibling robbed & cut my line, lost rig Not many being caught if any yesterday morning at the end of the pier. Moved to the entrance for sheep, large schools all over but they did not want my mud crabs, another guy was fishing with cut shrimp and was killing them. moved down the pier and found bait fish in an area were I could cast both directions parallel to the pier and caught my limit of Mack’s in an 2 hour period, plus was able to give away several to a friend of mine who was still on the end of the pier. Look for the bait and fish close to the pier, they are not very far from they pier. My largest was 22-1/2”

Sorry forgot to include this, the bite was on between 3pm and 4:30pm, also I was near the last bathroom. I had experimented with some different colors on my spoons, white was very good of course, tried a green/orange one that I painted and only caught one Mack, but the fire engine Red that I painted was a killer on the Mack’s they loved it!!! All the way up to the same pair of flippers ripping me off again for the third time, they cut my leader and lost my only red spoon. But I’ll be painting done more today that’s for certain.

Yes, you do not need special bait to catch sheephead. These special baits like mud crab just helps keep the pinfish or other fish away. I wonder if the guy was me... I was fishing with my GF, we limit out before two guys fishing next to us ever gotten a fish.

Nope don't think you are the one that I saw, he was fishing by himself and it was around 11:00am, I have used mud crabs for most of the year, I gather them myself not bought, and have had great success with them. In fact have out fished others around me using shrimp or fiddler crabs on several different occasions. But when the crabs don't work you need a backup of shrimp is what I have learned from this.

Holy carp! Now everybody out there will be slinging red spoons. Lowe's, Home Depot, Walfart, and Sherwin Williams are probably sold out of red paint. Some nice macks there

Some nice macks there I work at the Bay Pines Walmart across from the VA Hospital. I am sure we are not sold out of red paint. There are many kinds. Our hardware department will be the best place to start. The Automive department would be 2nd.
