Thanks mm I believe he is on a cruise for a week or so. I am sure he will give you an answer later. From my recent conversations with him, he thought around February 15th again this year. But he will update us.

Everyone has their dates. For me, as a rule of thumbed, I use st patty’s Day and Columbus Day as my dates for spring and fall prime times. Just my opinion and it is easy to remember.

welcome back, mackerelman! I'm glad to be back. There is No Fishing on those Cruise Boats. Even on the Fishing Trips that they sponsor, You cannot keep the Fish. Now that I am back, I can start Planning the Great Trout & Mackerel Catch in February.

Welcome back Mackerelman. Hope you had a great cruise. Keeping your catch in that situation I think would be impossible as you were out of the country and shipping it home would be a huge challenge with the Customs regs. It would be nice if the cruise lines would set up some type of program to allow their guests to bring their filleted fish or some of their filleted fish from their fishing trips and have the chefs prepare their catch along with some sides like corn fritters or corn bread, buttered parsley potatoes and a green veggie or salad.
Hubbard's Marina allows you to take your filleted fish from their boats up to the restaurant. You need to let the deck hands know as the fish need to be filleted a certain way. The restaurant will add some sides to go with the meal.

Hey Mackman...how do you make a prediction and base it on the weather? My 4yr old granddaughter can do that I base My Mack Predictions on several things: 1. Current & Future Weather Conditions including the Red Tide Conditions 2. When the Winds begin coming from the South is a Real Good Indicator 3. Gulf of Mexico Water Temperatures 4. Mack Reports from the Keys, Naples, Fort Myers, Cape Coral & Sarasota from different Fishing Sites as the Macks come up the Coast 5. Past Years Mack Arrivals 6. Fellow Fisherman who Fishes in the Gulf & they message Me or calls Me to let Me know where the Macks are being seen or caught at 7. Also People who Catches Pompano & Messages Me & tells Me to come & get the Macks out of Their Way. No Names Mentioned. Since I have live in Pinellas County since 1975, I have always went Fishing for the Macks on or about February 15th and the Macks somehow arrive on that day almost every Year. History Does Repeat Itself. I will be out there on February 15th Fishing for Macks. Join Me !

Almost like the weather man except with no pay check. I myself am not so concerned with when mackerel are biting at the skyway but none the less these folks got what they paid for which is nothing. Im sure you did better than those gripers could have done by themselves. IMHO folks need to relax and enjoy time on the water. I could spend 8 hours wind stripped and tormented by knots and snaggs and not get a bite but hollywood doesnt make enough good movies to keep me popping the popcorn. I figure if i ever stop fishing and start catching easy enough ide probably want to stop catching and play the stock exchange. :-)

I have been wrong or off by a couple days but that is very few. If the gripers don't like it then they don't need to read any one's opinions or predictions. I just pay close attention to what other Anglers are catching on the Southwest Coast of Florida & down toward the Keys to make a Mack Arrival Prediction. Like I said above, the Macks return just about the same time every year just like the Kings, Snappers, Pompanos & Grouper. Most of Us here on the Site knows when Each Targeted Fish comes back to the Tampa Bay Area. Fish around here for many Years like many of Us has & You will also learn it.

Here in the Tampa Bay Area, We do not have the Red Tide as of yet. Hopefully for All of Us it will stay out of our area. We also have got the attention from the State of Florida on working to Clean up the Red Tide & the Federal Government to clean up the Algae in South Florida. Whether I am on target or not with My Mack Prediction this Year We should All have a Good Year catching the Spanish Mackerel & Kings. We got a Cool Winter & the Gulf Waters Cooled down enough for a good migration of Macks & Kings this Year unlike last Year. If You have noticed the Forecast Temperatures for the rest of the Week, it is going to get Warmer by the Weekend with a Low on Sunday Morning of 61 & a High of 74. Now all we have to have is the Warm Winds out of the South to bring up the Fish. I just got back from a Cruise in the Southern Caribbean and it is Warm down there. So be prepared to Catch some Fish. When I hear of the Macks coming up the West Coast of Florida by any reports, I will let You know. If any of You hear of any Reports, let Us All know. I wish All a Good Year in catching the Macks & Kings.
