It used to be a Great Place to Fish back in the 70's & 80's.

I did stop by the Redington Pier this afternoon & the Pictures that I posted above from Facebook does not give it enough justice. It is heavily damaged. If You go up there, park in the Pier's Lot & go behind the Condo next door on the North Side & walk to the Beach and take a Look. It is beyond repairing. It definitely needs to be torn down & rebuilt. It is that bad. The Good Fishing that We once had there is definitely gone.

Years of neglect and milking the pier and the public have led to this. Good bye Doo Bye pier...spelling intentionally wrong. Call it an act of God.

Skyjay: Some notable days for me there as well. Biggest redfish, first pompano, most black drum, best catch of large whiting. Fish variety there was nice.

They are going to have to get it down ASAP. Falling boards timbers washing up on shore will pose hazards to swimmers and the floating boards and timbers will be hazardous to navigation.
Hopefully it will not take long to get the permits.

Everybody go grab a timber and have a piece of history

From what I saw on Saturday, if someone removed 1 piece, it would probably fall down on someone. Those Pictures are real. I was there.

its bad, i went to my families place just north of the pier and debris is scatterd up and down the beach, and the storm also changed the sand bars, leveling them out making the waves break further out. im planning on walking over to the pier soon and casting a couple poles out alongside of the pier, since no fishes there and plenty of structure should hold plenty of fish. but its only a matter of time before the rest of the pier disappears, most of its held together with cargo straps

It is going to take a very organized effort. Requiring barges(s) and a crane.

Fished the pier from 2000-2002, terrible management, greedy owner, would not invest in pier maintenance and repairs, no wonder it finally collapsed. Yes Jay, the elite, expensive VIP only, closed off T, accessible by only paying high dues, is like nothing I have ever seen before in fishing several Florida Gulf piers since the early 60's to present time.
