Got there at 3pm yesterday with my intentions being to catch bait. Dropped sabiki, got bored. Nope. Tried spooning with mackerel until sunset. Not even a hit. I saw 2 caught, on greenbacks. So I joined up with MM at the end on the pier. He's been kind enough to show me the ropes of Florida fishing and last night was grouper school. We freelined pinfish all night. The only action was a mystery runoff, probably a shark. Come sunrise, the bait was thick and the water clear enough you could nearly see the bottom. We had dreams of catching a king but we were both exhausted. The mackerel were few and far between... I managed 3 up to 19 inches.

Webby,
Good to hear that you did get 3 macks. Another positive note is that the water is beginning to clear. Those grouper really seem to be hard to get.

First off: The Grouper are being Hard to Hit this Year due to the abnormal Weather & Water Temperatures this Year. It does Not look Promising for the Next 3 Weeks for Grouper.
Remember To ALL: Grouper Season Ends December 2, 2015.
Second: It was a boring Night for Fishing. As Webby said, "0". Only one Bonnethead was in sight & He was not the least Interested. Flipper didn't even show until this Morning. I did have one hit that Bent My Rod Last Night but when I Retrieved My Bait I noticed that it was attacked by a Fish or Turtle that Took a Hunk out of it & left the scene without being caught. It was most likely a small Shark like Webby explained. Whatever it was, it did not swallow its food whole like a Grouper.

If We could not find much around the Pier, wait until the Front Arrives & then Goes through. I am pretty sure that this is very close to the end of Mackerel Season. Sure wish We could have luck getting a King. The Weather People says it is going to be Nice after the Front is over. Next Weekend will be the Key Factor. Let's See !
