Got out to SSP a bit after 4am (I gotta quit getting there so early). I was surprised when I rolled down my window at the wind blowing. The water was really wind blown. No bait in sight. At about 6, Mackeralman, my buddy and I decided to head to north pier.
Still windy but slightly less so. Felt colder to me though. Tide was heading out. Not a good bite day. Mackerelman had something big bite his hook off and I believe had some chaser macks. I'll let him chime in. Guys to my left caught 2 macks and we watched another bring in a nice Bonita on a Gotcha. I went from Clarks to Gotcha to Sprite and back to Clark spoons and managed a lil snakehead. No bites at all. My buddy got a couple of jacks and bluerunners which surprised him because he never used spoons before and didn't think they could catch anything. After I think all 3 were about to shut it down, my pal pulled in a 14 mack. MM caught a small mack and me nada. Good to be out there and probably good to be a mackeral because they were quiet.

I got report that people were catching macks and bonita later in the day. Probably after the wind died down later in the day. There was another "excellent" fishing period in the afternoon according to the solunar. Wish I could have stayed but obligations ya know. Glad to hear there was success though. D
