Got there at 8am and fished a bit over 2 hours. Cloudy weather but nice without sun beating us down. Tide slack at first and then incoming.
Fish action on slow side. Huge numbers of bait. Caught 2 large blue runners and barely one keeper sized mackerel. Got pinfish and undersized lane snapper. My neighbors had similar slow action, a few macks and blue runner. Not many dolphin around which was good.

Nice meeting you this morning, Seabird.
We got out to SSP at 4:15am. A lot of runoff from earlier rains visible even in the dark. Kinda choppy and breezy, which did feel nice.
Slow bite after a cloudy sunrise. I ended up with 2 12.5" macks. Then it was like 5 blue runners and 4 jacks. A late undersized mack ended my day at about 9:30 or so.

Thanks for the report, what were you using if you don't mind me asking? I was using a sabiki rig and using pieces of shrimp or clam on the hooks. The rig has to be 30/40 pound test to withstand the teeth of a mackerel and even then hooks get bitten off. Other people use spoons or gotcha plugs and they will catch more mackerel when they are hitting well. My method works better on slower days. I also tend to catch a wide variety of fish and I have no trouble getting enough bait. Also good to meet you, dbagates.

It was Good to see You two Guys catching the Macks this Morning. It is usually the other Way around and "seabird" knows it. There has been some days where I have got skunked. I did get some good hits this Morning but had no Takers. Maybe the cooler air moving in this weekend will turn things around.

Mackerelman is right, normally he catches lots of macks and most of the time he gets many more than I catch. In fact, he out fishes almost anyone out there with the macks. One can learn from him.

First of all: For All of You that are Not Signed onto the Site Here, "You Should Be". There are People on here that can answer Your Questions or Give You advise. Also We would like to Hear what You have to say. Second: I just happened to Have in My Past, "The Best Mackerel Fisherman in the World" Teach Me How to Catch Mackerel. One of them was a Guy Named "Manny". One Person I Knew use to Put Strips of Mackerel on Hooks and Cast them. He use to Catch some of the Biggest Macks around. I like I said earlier, "Sometimes I Get Skunked". But I will also say, "I am Real Hard to Beat Catching Mackerel". Most of the time I Tick People Off because "They are not Catching Any & I am Catching All of Them". You Guys just Need like I have said in the past to find the best way to catch those Macks & then Improve on that. Dpagates is doing Good. He knows My Way of Bringing them up to where we Stand or Sit. "I Just Get Lucky Sometimes". "Best Of Luck To All"
