Does Florida have citation certificates for saltwater fishing? I know a lot of states including Florida do it for freshwater (see the link below) but I can't find it anywhere for saltwater. Any thoughts? m.myfwc.com/bigcatch

I know one thing that is true & I have seen it about 6 or 7 times. The State will give You a Citation for Catching too Many of a species or catching undersize Fish. I have seen that on the Fort Desoto Pier and also on the North Side & South Side Skyway Piers. One time on the North Pier I saw 2 Guys crying when the Sheriff took the Guys Rods & Reels. First they got the Citation. Then they started Crying when the Equipment was confiscated. Then the Cuffs went on. Believe Me "They deserved it". Four too Many Macks & 3 too Small. Plus a Baby Flounder.

dpagates, I believe he is talking about a Program for Returning Fish back to the Gulf. In Fresh Water Fishing the State Rewards You will an Award & a letter for doing the Right Thing in Most Cases. I was Talking about a Citation that You get when You do Wrong like what I have Witnessed. The word Citation I believe was the Incorrect word to use. I went to the site he suggested & Now I understand. There Is No Award the State gives You for Saltwater Fishing.

We are talking certificate for a big fish, sorry for the confusion. Where I grew up they were called citation fish. Like someone would say "I caught a citation largemouth this weekend!" Then you take pics and send off for your certificate. I don't think it matters if you keep them or let them go though. I ran across that page for freshwater fish but I couldn't find the same for saltwater. I did find where you get certificates for certain Slams though. See the link below. myfwc.com/fishing/saltwater/recognition/

The site above does show an Email Address. I would definitely Email them with Your Question.

Email response was as of now they only have the Slam options for saltwater but they are working on the same program as they have for freshwater for the future.
