Hello everyone, happy Independence day! I'm taking 2 semi-experienced bro-in-law & my 80yr old father-in-law out for my birthday party on Saturday July 12th at 10pm for a casual fishing trip... mainly a sit around, gossip about the wives, smoke cigars and wish we could have a beer kind of evening... when if a fish hits, we go from relaxed to red alert in .5 seconds, but don't expect to be casting constantly...lol However, we would LOVE (well duhhhhh right??) to catch some eating fish in the process. I have read nearly all the posts on this site so don't expect miracles. Specifics: I have a half dozen + medium/med-light actions rods & reels with 12-17lb mono rigged. I also have a ton of Berkley Gulp Alive shrimp & jerk baits on hand from when I did a lot of inshore fishing for trout, snook & reds the past few years and some sabiki rigs and buckets-w- air pumps for pins. But I know pier fishing is nothing like the inshore and grass flats. I've not been to the Skyway in probably 20yrs and I know it's changed. I would sincerely appreciate any and all positive & helpful tips from you fella's that know the pier, on where we should go (North or South pier and maybe more specific?) on Sat July 12th at the incoming high tide (10pm-midnight), and what/how we should rig for for the best chance at eating fish... We know the red snapper season closes on the 13th, so naturally we'd love to catch a few of those too. Again, I'm not bringing any gear bigger than a med action rod and 20lb mono... so not looking to catch a goliath grouper, sharks or cobia...lol Thanks everyone, I hope you will take a moment to help a newbie that might just turn into an old timer eventually. Thank you in advance and feel free to contact me direct at saddlebagpix@yahoo.com if you prefer. Scott
