7/19 Didn't know that they are still around. Got there before sunrise and fished until 12pm. Incoming till about 8am and then outgoing. Most bites 7-8am. Saw a bunch of jacks busting threadfin/proggy on the top of the water. It was a sight to see. I caught one of those jack,,, the biggest one, a fun fight. I also jumped a Tarpon with my lure lol. Lost a big mack.. probably around 20". There's a bunch of just under 11" pompano around as well which surprise me. Anyways all are caught on a jig with a teaser. It is interesting that the pompano is completely white until I put them on ice for a bit and then the yellow shows up... 0.o 7/20 Went out there again to try to pick up some more pompano. Manage to get one and a mango snapper. All the bites are before 10am... hint hint.. Landed a few more jacks and lost a bunch of big fish that pull into the pilling... I totally lost the battle today. Probably lost about 3 -4 fish like that. Most likely snook and big jacks. Hope you guys get the hint and plan your fishing accordingly.

Nice. How do you manage to get the jig to hit bottom? Every time I use mine it just gets swept away.

I've had luck with them on the maybe half way from the toll to the bait shop on NSP. Rarely go for them on ssp, so I would not know about that side.

If the jig isn't hitting the bottom, you might need a heavier jig. I use 1/2 oz and up only.
Fish until the first bathroom. You got to test out the area. One day, they might be closer to the toll booth another day farther. I notice however that if you go farther, the Pompano usually are bigger.
Here's another hint... I didn't pay for both trip. I don't see a need when I can only fish for a few hours and can catch these fish without paying. 0.o
Next time I'll try the upper bay bridges or something.
Again, if you really want to catch these fish. You gotta really work for them. Work the whole area, switch area if you are not finding them.

I have literally jigged for them the whole day before and not even limit out (6 is the most you can keep). You really do have to work for them though.

How did you fish without paying?
Or, are you just saying that you went back within the 24 hour time limit and were able to go back on the pier?
