6/14
caught 4 pompano, only 1 keeper. A few macks, ladyfish, jacks, and snook. Most are caught in the morning...
Lost quite a few jigs due to cut off from macks and big run from snook and big jack.

It was raining like crazy yesterday and I was unprepared. I tried for snapper but I didn't bring my smaller hooks so I kept losing them. I saw a 24" mackerel smack my jig but he spat it out when I started to set the hook. Im going to catch some fiddler crabs and go for sheepshead on my next trip.

Hey, if you wouldn't mind helping out a relative beginner, what kind of setup and/or jigs do you use for pompano and macks? I haven't had much luck using the premade rigs from Walmart. Any help would be appreciated, thanks

The rig that I used is called a pompano jig with a teaser. Search it and you should get an article telling you how to fish it. Most tackle store have it but I just don't like the way they rig it.

Doc's Goofy and Silly Willy makes those yellow banana like jigs.
